You can be the best writer in the world, but an extra set of eyes can go a long way. A proofreader will double-check your work, looking for errors that might have slipped through, such as typos, double words ("the the"), grammar, punctuation, spelling, and formatting issues.
- Is "their" correct, or should it be "they're"?
- Is there a punctuation mark at the end of every sentence?
- Is it color or colour? Neighbor or neighbour? Are you in the US or Canada?
Proofreading is the final stage before the content goes live, whether that means publishing a book, a blog post, website content, flyers, etc. Anything with text should be proofread prior to sending it off into the world.
Transcripts are marked up on PDF. You have the choice as to whether I return the complete document or just the annotated pages.
I use Morson's English Guide for Court Reporters by Lilian I. Morson as well as Bad Grammar/Good Punctuation by Margie Wakeman Wells as references. One reference may contradict the other; please let me know which style guide you follow.

I have successfully completed rigorous training through the course Transcript Proofreading: Theory and Practice™ with over 3000 pages of real legal transcripts and multiple exams.
I usually mark up a document on PDF. However, I can also use the track changes function in Microsoft Word or Apple Pages, or the revision mode in Scrivener. I work on both Mac and Windows, so if you wrote your text on a different software, I may be able to accommodate that as well.
I use the CMOS style guide and the Merriam-Webster dictionary. If you prefer that a different style guide or dictionary be used, please let me know. I may not have it, but I may be able to procure a copy to work with.
$0.01 USD per word*
*Standard rate. Rush jobs will cost extra.
A 50% deposit is required before the work begins. The remainder is payable when the project is completed and delivered.
